There's the "intake silencer" would it be bad to to take it off and keep it off?

 

AFAIK, WRXs don't have one.

You're talking about the white jug attached to the bottom of the airbox that looks like this right?

 

Jourdan is it bad for us to take it off? What does it do? Just make the intake more quiet?

 

Mixed information on the good/bad aspect. From what I can tell, it helps with the intake resonance as well as makes it quieter.

I took mine off and haven't noticed anything positive of negative. (The intake could be louder, but my exhaust is too loud to tell.) I did notice however that with it removed, there is now two big holes going into the airbox. Thus creating more airflow.

But like I said, as far as I know, only the N/A and STi engines have these silencers. The WRXs (and maybe GTs) don't have this, the hole is there but it is sealed.

 

Thanks for the help. I just found out that wrxs don't have it. I asked before I took the intake box out
