stick on a big fart can at the end and replace your pipes with some nice full 3 inch ones.

Just stick with stock. After spending $200 for stock WRX CBE, and a Tsudo N1 for my 2.5i, I regret it, since theres no real point. People will say there is performance and all that, but really you loose your low end, with barely any gains in top end rpm. Being loud is cool, but the tone from EL is too hondish.

Now if your serious about going a bit louder, wait for a UEL header and then get exhaust. You will have a nice tone.

Meh. If you want that subie sound, you gotta get the unequal length headers. definitely.
What's your budget?

and an air intake wouldn't do much to the sound or performance for that matter

Why not just sell the NA impreza and get a WRX? you will have a car that sounds like it has ***** and it will be able to back up the sound as well. Why make your car sound tough when it will still be a cream puff?

The OP asked for ideas on how to make "his" car sound good, not what car to buy, why do people keep telling others that their car isn't good enough? That's your opinion, if he wants an exhaust for his NA impreza then give him ideas for that, not an explanation on how his car is inadequate! Some of the other ideas are good, start with a muffler, and if you still aren't happy with the sound, then look into an un-equal length header, that'll do it. Good luck man!

I never told the op that their car is not good enough. I asked the OP 2 questions. I'm tired of people like you who chime in to play body guard for an op when no one was attacking the OP.
If people are going to ask a question like the OP did you can expect people to give their opinions/responses... You are not always going to like peoples opinions/responses. Welcome to the internet!
