Stay away from the 07 sti if you can, the engines are not the best in that year.

they came with a bad stock tune. you may run into issues. however, the gear ratios are a little different for the 07's and can get a faster 1/4mile times.

i have an 07 and dont have any issues yet but i did just get it. someone said they had issues and i dug around a bit and didnt really find much of anything. i looked up motor problems and it came up with the whole rod bearing issue with the 08-09 wrx and sti. the car runs amazing and if it does have to do with the tune im sure some sort of engine management would clear any issues up i dont see why not!!!! awesome car imo but thats just me

ok so, so far i have found out that these motors are common to have a piston ringland blow.. and that the stock tuning is bad.. now im wondering.. is it still worth getting knowing these problems? i have noticed that most of everyone has like stage 1 or 2.. can someone tell me what this is exactly?

motor problems are rare and few and the bad tune can be fixed with an ap. stage one generally means that your car is stock with slight tuning modifications stage two typically means that you have some sort of tuning accompanied by a turbo back exhaust basically means you have changed your entire exhaust out from the turbo back hints the name turbo back exhaust! if you lost a motor and have warrenty then youll get a new block anyway...and if you dont like that option theres always the option of dropping in a built motor!!!! which i may do if worst comes to worst on me 07 which runs great btw

hmm very interesting.. i think i just might go with it.. it is still going to have the warranty.. ok so 1 more question.. does the motor problem come up or happen when you are driving the car a certain way or is it just random.. when i get this car.. i dont plan on smashing out on it.. just plan to cruise with it.. so basically im asking if it will occur if i like smash out like 24/7...
