CT muffler ballyhoo?!?
Hey y'all!
An old lurker here, and something's gotten me hot under the collar so I wanted to hear from some Connecticut drivers about this one. (I used to troll this forum when I lived in Boston, but now live in NYC.)
Anyway, my girlfriend borrowed my 99 RS, and it's got a Stromung exhaust on it. And for that, a cop pulls her over on I-684 near Brewster and tells her that "it's illegal in CT to install a non-stock muffler on your car." Now, obviously that is total BS, but is CT really strict with noise levels on exhausts? The Stromung's not THAT loud! WTF?!?
Just a rant, but I'd be interested to know if I'm going to get slapped with a ticket everytime I pass through CT from now on. . .

i live in ct and i dont think thats true because there are soooooo many ricers with there stock civics with coffee can muffler (not exhaust; too cheap to get a cat-back) all i hear all hours of the day are civics buzzin down the street. just heard another one right now. i always see them around cops to and never seen them get pulled over for the noise (though they should with they're crappy sounding hondas. but in a nutshell, dont think so.

My girlfriend and I were on our way out of Salem, MA around halloween when we got pulled over because "It's illegal to drive in Mass. with your fog lights on when it's not foggy". It was just a BS excuse to pull over a car full of twenty-somethings to see if we were drunk. Your girl getting pulled over could have been something similar.
