Stig Blomqvist shows at the Maine Forest Rally in a Subaru, and I didnt even make the treck up to watch. Damn.

Yeah...but he doen't drive like you think he does. He doesn't do a 90 degree drift into the corner...he's really smooth, picking the fastest line. Pretty cool!

Stig is often times credited with pioneering the "left foot braking" technique to minimize understeer in the old SAAB 96 and especially 99 factory Rally cars of the 70ies. Basically he kept the power on but just added a gentle bit of braking to help these cars "turn in" better. It may have burnt up a few brake pads, but boy did it make these cars go fast.

Stig is a master at driving fast while being gentle to the cars mechanical systems, in spite of his older left-foot braking technique. I beleive he also won WRC championship with Audi's early AWD monsters back in the early 1980ies (1983?) after SAAB withdrew their factory team from ralling.
