Show me the Roads
Currently the Area known as the Appalacian Mountains have many twisty and turny roads. I need to know where they are by listing them as Route # and Town that the best starting point can be found. If it is not to hard take a picture of the road map and add the image here. Road names by locals is also appreciated. GPS of good starting points are also appreciated. Area of Interest is Northern Maryland, Most of New Jersey(no high populatiton area's please) All of Pennsylavania, Eastern Ohio, Central and Lower New York.

there is a nice stretch here in frederick Md that runs along the top of the mountain than there are a few ways from there. it is called gambrill park road. you can get to it a few ways, the easiest is by taking rt. 40 right up the mountaintill you reach GPR, or you can take a twisting winding back road called shookstown road. once on gambril you go up the mountain and then along the ridge at the top, (watch for park rangers)the road is kinda long, you can then either take the turn off onto Hamburg rd and follow that down and back into frederick(very tight steep and fun way down the hill) or you can keep going until the road forks, the right will take you down a gravel road that eventually ends up back in frederick, hamberg rd, or about 1/4 after where the road forks. the left for will take you down a rough paved road that will split at the end. the right takes you down to mink farm rd,at the end of mink farm there will be a stop sign, turn lef there and that will come out on rt 15, thus the end of twistiness. that left will take you down tower rd, that will take you to rt 77 turn left there to get back to rt 15. rt 15 is the express way the goes to I-270 and back into frederick. total trip length is about 20 to 35 miles. very fun
almost forgot, send me an email if you have questions. bikergothdude@earthlink.net
when you come through, send me a line. ill be glad to show you some of the fun roads around the frederick area.

So you wanna road trek in the PA area?
Well I am gonna tell you of some awesome roads I have enjoyed for years. First off I need to show you a map so you can drool with me.
Tower City PA Map Click Here
Now this is a map of Tower City PA, access to this town can be fun as the Southern approach is more like a hill climb then it is normal daily driving. The Road is known as Gold Mine Road, it is approximately 6.4 miles of steep hills and hair pin corners. IF this is not enough for you how about some 180 banked corners? This is the road known as Molleystown Road, Best way to get there is via Interstate 81 exit 104 Ravine exit. Off the exit take a left and head west into the small village of Molleystown and then north around hairpins and up a steep grade to the village of Joliett. Cross State Route 209 and continue on Main street to the Hamlet of Good Spring PA. At the 4 way stop sign, If you want to stretch you right foot out I suggest turning right and letting it all hang out as the road is straight for 2.2 miles. If you want the curves and corners which are banked go straight on State Route 125 all the way to Shamokin PA. There are steep corners and whoopsies galore ( bottoming out is possible).

Clarksburg road, exit 18 off I-270 (go right on clarksburg if coming out of DC) is a blast, really hairy though, and not such good pavement quality. Watch out at night, mucho deer. I would also recommend against running it fast on weekend nights, as the office park nearby is a frequent race spot, and thus there are cops everywhere.
