Beyer Subaru in VA

I went there on Friday and was convinced the employees of the Honda dealer next door knew more about Subies then the morons at the Suby dealer.
My wife wanted to know how much they were selling 05 Ouback sedans. The kid asks us if we want cloth or leather interior. So I mention cloth is not an option on the car and he questions me about it. So I told him leather just to move on. Next he asks if we want the turbo, I start to look for hidden cameras. After not finding any cameras I told him that the car is only available with the 6cyl and he looks at me like I'm speaking Latin. I reminded him that we want the 2005 Outback SEDAN not the wagon thinking maybe he misheard me.
Einstein then goes onto subarunet.com to see the models subaru offers. My wife and I start thinking that it was just the guy we were talking to. NO, while waiting for the answer I already knew we heard another salesman talking to a couple about the 05 Baja and Outback wagon. He tells them that this is the first year subaru is using AWD instead of 4 wheel drive. My wife is not a big car buff but even she knew that he was wrong by 10+ years.
At one point Einstein asks me what I drive and I answer "2002 Impreza 2.5rs" his reply " Oh you got the 2 door with the turbo, nice choice." Still looking for the cameras I correct him " no it's a 4 door and it doesn't have a turbo" Einstein says "Ok you didn't get the opt. tubro like a lot of people do" " thats a wrx, not an opt."
Einstein finally tells us that we were right about the 05 OB sedan only having one model that comes w/ 6cyl and leather and says they don't have any. So I ask about the 05 Legacy sedan and he tells me they just sold a GT ltd but they have a gt sedan in back I could look at. So me and my wife walk through the lot found 2-3 2.5i s but no gt sedans. Fed up we walk back to my car in front to leave and whats parked right behind my car. A 2005 Leg gt ltd sedan, the exact car that i was told they didn't have. I congratulated the couple getting out of the gt figuring they bought the 1 GT ltd the dealer had. "No, we just asked to see a legacy sedan and this is what they brought out." These people wanted a base Legacy and they're shown the $30k GT ltd, I ask for it by name and get shyte.
How can this dealer still be in business is beyond me. Out of the three salesmen there you could ask 2 of them about the 2006 5000hp quad turbo V8 rotory Justy and they'd have some frightening answers. The the third guy (middle aged white guy, didn't get his name) actually seemed to have a brain but he was already helping someone else. After this experience we can't wait to get back to CT. and go to a dealer that knows what they're selling.

Don't worry about it. Just find the car you want on the internet and call the dealer with the lowest price. To me, the salesmen are only the middle men between me and my new car. The way I see it (and maybe now so do you) the customer typically knows everything about the car he or she wants to buy. So there is no point in asking the salespeople anything about the car other than price and availability because, lets face it, thats pretty much all they know.
I work as a technician at a car dealer (and three others before this) and one thing I can tell you is car salesmen come and go like the wind. Usually the highest turnover in a dealer is the salespeople. Most of them are there only long enough to learn the make and model names. Before you know it, they've gone to another dealer. What I'm trying to say is you're gonna find that at a lot of places. Just find the best deal and go buy the car. Don't reply on salespeople to do anything more than waste your time.
Cheers and good luck!

By the way, this is where I bought my last 3 cars. Might be a good option for you since you may not have to pay sales tax. http://www.fitzmall.com

Not to laugh at your situation but that is pretty damn bad. i thought the guys up there knew all about cars. Well as least the ones that I talked own Subarus. But it is still pretty funny. I bet I know who you are tlaking about to. They must be new.
