Anyone from md up in here?
yea i work on campus. i decided i wasn't ready to join the real world when i graduated in 03 and took a job with the IT department on campus. the pay stinks but the benefits of watching the woman's lax team practice outside my office is priceless
sorry i don't live in college park anymore, i should probably update that.
car theft is a big problem at college park, the best answer is probably to park it somewhere you can easily see from where you live at and have a big freakin alarm on it.
until the beginning of this month and all through college i had a 95 honda accord. not the most desirable car but also popular to steal for the parts. i never had a problem.

access port, and make the anti theft your basemap, to wear even if they disconnect the battery terminal, your ECU wont work. They turn the key and get nothing, unless they get it with a roleback or wrecker, then you are screwed. But at least if they are real addiment about your car they will probalby leave it be.
I'm also in md, hagerstown area.

Depends on where you are in CP and what time of the year. I lived on campus and had a car there for about three years and never had a problem (not my WRX). Around campus especially when school is in session is going to bring in the crooks cause they know that there are a lot of out-of-town students that have nice things and aren't that smart about them. Realistically, if a bad-guy wants your car bad enough he is going to get it. Just use some precautionary measures (ie, park where it is light, where there is constant traffic, use your alarm, don't leave anything worth stealing in it, etc.).
Kts: Do you work for OIT? I used to work for 4-data (aka ISU) for about 3 years. I know it's no OIT but we had the same benifits you quoted. I still go and have lunch down there as often as I can.

Also in Cockeysville, here.
It's really good the see the local Subaru owners group getting bigger. I really think we need to start up a weekly meet around here so we can all hang out some time. I guess it would be better to wait a few more weeks untill it warms up a little. We should put togeather a nice dyno meet at Agile in Cockeysville. They have an AWD Dynapack chassis dyno and they do have discounted rates for dyno meets. I would be happy to organize.
As far as the car theft issue goes, just have Agile or someone else install a kill switch in a place of your choosing. This way they have to sit there and trouble shoot while the alarm is telling the world that your car is getting massed with. If it doesn't crank they'll run away. I've done this mod on all of my cars and have had more than one broken into but never stolen.
Props to MD! Lets all hang out sometime.

I'll do my best. I just picked up my car frok the dealer with a rebuilt trans, ACT lightened flywheel, SS clutch line, and an Exedy organic clutch. HUGE difference over stock. I'll talk to the other guys and fine out when they can get together.

Hey everyone. I talked to the group I meet with and we are going to be getting together this thursday (feb 10th) at 11:30am at Popeyes on 193 for lunch. The Popeyes is in between the Giant and Target. If you can make it that's great. I know some of you outside the College Park/Beltsville area won't be able to make it on a weekday. Does anyone have a place we could meet on a weekend? A nice centralized location?
Todd
Oh, if you think you can make it let me know. I'm looking forward to meeting some new drivers.
