I'm possibly flying on Saturday if the weather and wind is ok for flying. That would change last minute if the conditions are not correct for flying.

Sunday looks ok schedule wise for riding. If it's cold and rainy like the forecast says, I will wuss out from riding. Last weekend spoiled me.

Mike - if you can MTB Sunday (which I hope you can because the weather looks sweet and the wind may prevent my roadie action tomorrow), we could also do Salmon Falls

Plans changed and we're riding the long shuttle on Saturday:

Start at Drivers Flat and hit the 2nd half of FDLT+Connector+Fuel Break+Culvert+Confluence. 11miles. 10:45 start. Meet at end of Confluence for shuttle pick-up and drive up to Drivers Flat.

Soooo, uh, Mike's Bikes is having their semi-annual super-sale next week. They gave me the sale price on a new bike tonight.

08 Specialized Tarmac Comp.

OH. BABY. Full CF, Ultegra rear der 105 front, cranks, brakes and wheels. That bike is fast. I just took a quick 10 mile spin, in to a gnarly head wind and averaged 20.3mph

Some pics of my new hotness. This thing is bad. Weighs under 18lbs, full CF frame. It's soooo comfortable to ride, and so super fast. I was jammin today - sprinted up to near 30 in to a headwind, carving out turns at that speed in the drops is awesome. Today I also picked up some Shimano 105 SPD pedals and Specialized BG Comp road shoes (I also have the BG Comp mountain shoes).

SOOO happy with this purchase. I thought I'd regret spending the money (I feel guilty when I spend $200) but I haven't felt a tinge of guilt

We got started way late so I missed Chandon, but the ride was awesome. Very pretty up there. We started in Yountville, then rode up to Oakville Grade, rode over that pass, down Dry Creek Rd, cut over to 29 and came back up to Yountville.

Lessons learned:
  1. The Tarmac is made from pure awesome. The descents following the past were incredible. I was down in the drops, going a little over 30mph, leaning slightly for turns and absolutely carving the road. I felt like Boonen.
  2. It's a lot easier to pedal and be comfortable when you're not getting bounced all over the place from your stiff *** aluminum frame. CF = WIN.
  3. Riding real hills on a road bike with a standard double chain ring is not fun. I was wishing, praying for a compact but it never came. The hill was so steep I had to stand just to put my weight down on the pedals to turn them.

Here's the hill I'm talking about. I took 3 breaks I think, but I rode the entire hill.

Hill of doom.
