no offense, man, but for <$600 your options are kinda limited :|
having roomates that are NOT dumbasses makes a world of difference - I had a roomate for a year and she was really cool. You can get A LOT more apartment for $1000 ($500 ea.) than $600 total.

I know, I know. The AF only pays me $679/mo for my housing allowance. I have just had such a string of crappy roommates, from my old ones which one was a horribly lazy/dirty bastard, and the other one would go and take things from my room like it was his, to my current ones. All of my friends that I wouldn't mind living with all have places. And in reality, I could pay more for rent, but I don't have a whole lot of extra, uncle sam doesn't pay much. All I want is a place of my own and a spot for my car, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen any time soon. Sigh.

No way man, they live under my bed. Uh, I mean, in the giant cage I bought em. Yeah.
Actually, this batch is a bunch of wusses. They are hardly willing to come out of the cage at all, whereas the last 2 I had owned the whole place.

Yeah you could get a NICE 2 bedroom 2 bath washer dryer with a garage for $1000 in Folsom. Might even be cheaper out near Matt or Sacramento.

Kevin- What you said about military roommates is 100% true. I don't know if I act older then my age or what, but you hit the nail on the head
If you're serious about finding a place, I'd be game. Rocklin wouldn't be too bad of a commute.

The issue is that I work up near Marysville, so the closer I get to Matt, the longer my drive is. And if I'm working a 12 hour shift with a 1 hour commute each way, it gets a touch hellish.

If there's a decent enough place that far north. I think Antelope has some decent townhouses relatively cheap.

Absolutely. I had hoped to find a job first, but now the no mon-ay thing is more important than the shorter commute by moving closer to the job I'll eventually have thing.
