This is kinda off topic, but last night in two different import/tuner car mags i read a couple of articles on future WRX/STi specifications, they sounded really intriguing & got me all excited about the models again. Subaru is planning on splitting the base Impreza from the WRX/STi, without the econo car limitations they can finally be real sport/rally cars from scratch. It looks like the WRX will get a hi-po new version of the 2.5L while the STi variant will be used for WRC purposes, so it will have an all new 1.6L engine per WRC regs. It could possibly be twin turbo or even more interesting twin charged (turbo/supercharged hybrid). The STi will be a 2dr lighter, shorter, wider, sportier, pure rally road rocket with at least 300 hp (yes, sounds just like my kind of car). It'll probably be a small rally hatchback just like the ones in WRC right now. This news got me hella excited now about the future of the brand, i can't wait for 2014 to see how everything turns out, if i got the money by then i just might trade in my 06 STi for the new one (i'll have it paid off by then but i really don't want car payments again). We'll see...
