A 245/40/17 tire can fit on a 17x8 however it's not the best setup IMO. I've ran this setup on my personal car and felt the tire had a bit of play so initial turn in wasn't as responsive. If you are wanting a bit more performance, a 235/40/17 fits great and will work very well. It's a bit shorter than your OEM diameter so you will get slightly quicker acceleration and it's still very responsive due to the nice fit on the 17x8 wheel.
