Besides, if the cops know this is happening, they'll be keeping an eye on the freeways - the back roads?? I doubt they'll be covering those so well.

My biggest concern is the left hand turn into the park. One random car coming around the corner from the opposite direction - can T-bone one of our own, and ruin the entire day for more than one person.
are you talking about the left turn onto novato blvd, from pt reyes rd?

no i think he is saying if we were coming from the direction of the 101 you have to make a left hand turn from Novato BLVD in to the park, going from east to west.

he is making a point of if we take the back roads it will be a right hand turn into the park

Exactly. I would feel far safer pulled of on the right side of the road than in a long line waiting to turn left. 30-something cars (or more) lined up will back up traffic for at least half a mile by the time the last car gets into the park to pay the entry fee. Remember you're stopping at the gate to pay the entry fee, and that'll take at least 30 seconds per car. That's 15 minutes provided there's no traffic. I feel bad for the people headed in from the south.

Not a lot of space once you turn left before the gate.
