Hey guys (girls). How'd this meet turn out?? I'm new here, though I've been cruising the forums looking for info on buying a car. Guess what I got? So yeah, do these meets always happen every week? I'm looking forward to meeting up with my local i-club family and drive. BUT, I still gotta break in my new WRX. Any tips on this? Oh yeah, should I be warming up the car every time I take her out??
Hey Weak Sauce, welcome. To answer just a few of your questions.
Yup, we meet up every week. Pizza & Beer then to Starbucks for some coffee. Tonight was a little smaller, but the last two times previous it was a big meet.
For breaking in your WRX, you should try to drive the first 1K as suggested. Some people say you can break it open as soon as you get it, but who knows. I prefer to go by the book, makes me feel better, hehehe.
As for warming it up, same thing. People will argue that you don't need to, but it's generally a good idea to let things settle in for about 45 seconds or so before you drive off and hammer it. I let my car warm up until the idle drops to a about 1K, and then I drive away and take it easy for the first few minutes until it's really warm before I drop the hammer. Same thing for cool down, I let it cool down before I shut it off so things recirculate. You don't have to, but most people usually drive it nice for the last 2 minutes before turning off their cars. Might be a good practice, that's just how I see it.
Anyway, hope to see you at the next meet. Come out tomorrow to Big Dogs.

I ALWAYS make sure the engine is up to temperature before getting on the throttle and recommend you do the same. It's a good idea with any engine, but espically important with ours.
