second annual Redwood Rendezvous Road Rally Adventure tour
October 16,17.
2 days of driving some of Northern California's most spectacular roads
in and around the tallest living things on earth!
so far, here is the roster:
Gotwrx (tim)
eastbaysubaru (brian) (?)
blubaru (mike)
wrxer (kevin)
withdrawn 10/15 sfwrx2 (josh)
Bushido has seen the route and knows where all the checkpoints are from pre-check, so he's disqualified from competing, but with our latest withdrawl (for reasons unknown) we're back to maybe 4 (brian- where are you?)
But we're still going to have fun!

I'm going to do it if I can...
I'm a winemaker, and the buisy season may or may-not be finished by then.
But, having missed the Yreka rally, I'm gonna try like hell to make this one.
Lookin' forward already...
Mike

great Pete, you know i'll be there. Are we driving up there like we talked about last year and just running the rally up there? and are we camping out again? I'm really hoping so. that was so much fun last year. just be sure to bring ALOT more firewood.

Yes, sadly this year the Thunderhill Rally school will be without my fine co-driving in-car session, I apologize in advance to anyone that's going to the school for that.
If you haven't been to Rally school, I highly suggest that you sign up for that and plan to spend the weekend in Willows, even without me being there- it's absolutely the best investment you can make towards getting into rallying.
If you are in the points for rallycross, definetly run there Sunday, we'll miss you- but we understand.
But if you'd prefer hours of seat time, maybe lots of it on gravel, travelling roads you have never driven before (guaranteed), and hilarious campfire sessions with a small gang of lunatics out in the wilds of far northern California, you won't want to miss this!
Its a matter of setting your priorities.....

Instead of rallying our way north, this year it will be a quick sprint up to redwood country, with just a couple of checkpoints, we'll set up camp and then go out for a nice little 6 hour drive Saturday afternoon into the night.
Saturday night will be the traditional campfire mayhem, so come prepared!
Sunday there are 2 options currently being considered; a lost coast tour, or a Mendocino forest exploration going over to hook up with the rallycrossers as they're finishing up at T-hill.
I know bushido will do it, anyone else?

Yeah I know about that one too, but given the choice between competing against the national rally lawyers guild down south, and running wild with crazy people in the redwoods, I think the redwoods win in my book.
Like I said this trip isn't for everybody- it requires, at the very minimum, a taste for adventure...

Last year, pretty much everyone bowed out "early" I try to make the plan very ambitious so anyone that feels a need to press on has the opportunity, but there is no shame in deciding you've had enough, as long as you make it to the campfire session Saturday night.
I figured it might be fun to have a few more cars join us on the last legs heading home Sunday, there are some really fun backroads between Willows and Clear Lake
So today I will be going up to scout a couple of roads between Willows and Covelo, just in case a few of us decide to make that journey into the central Valley.

wow i was thinking people would be jumping for joy to come along on this rally / drive/ camping meet. it has to be one of the funnest things i did all of last year.
hell even if it's just Pete and I it'll be worth it.
Hey are we needing co-drivers for this event this years?

Co-drivers are reccomended, (always good to have more people to harrass around the campfire) but not required.
the few regularity sections will be like last year, one speed to try and maintain, and no real places to make a wrong turn.
We'll either do the run/work thing with everyone again, or possibly just a couple of us will work controls so everyone else can just drive, I haven't decided that part yet.

Hey now!
This sounds like tons of fun, especially the campfire session! I think Roo will be navigating for me...
If any of the route involves the Lost Coast, I'm drooling already - I've been having some lost coast fantasies lately.

Someone needs to learn to sign out around here...
