Haha yeah it kinda got planned the day before...on saturday/sunday mornings I'm usually sleeping so its not a problem to wake up a little earlier haha
We lost one of the OG's of this meet today.
tom_walshaw lost his battle with leukemia this morning.
Tom was fresh off the boat from the UK when he bought a 2002 MBP WRX and entered our lives. None of us would know that our small (I think our record was 8 people?) weekly gathering at a new hidden Aptos Starbucks in 2006 would lead to a marriage between Tom and a barista named Laura.
I asked Tom to be one of my groomsman about 3 years ago and had our entire future wedding party over to our house for a get together. Tom was his usual gregarious friendly self but seemed tired and a bit pale....the next day he went to the doctor and was diagnosed.
He fought hard and valiantly against the insidious cancer, going in and out of remission several times but was never able to crush it completely.
It may have been quite awhile since some of you have seen him, but pour one out for the lad from Yorkshire.
RIP Big Tom.
