San Francisco/Daly City BAM Caravan
Welcome to the official San Francisco/Daly City/Upper Peninsula BAM Caravan!
Where: Stonestown Galleria near McDonald's
When: Sunday, Aug 9, 2009, Departure for BAM at 10:15am SHARP
(no grace period, no exceptions -- sorry, but this is because we have a large caravan this year); you can show up earlier if you want to eat breakfast, buy food at Trader Joe's, or just socialize before departure. Whoever arrives first, please pick a section of the lot that can accommodate us all. Also, when the group is still small (when it's early), please make an effort to wave at a Subaru if it looks like it's looking for our group. Thanks!)
Who: Anyone who is interested -- we will assign caravaners into 2 groups, in case we get separated.
In the event of separation, you can: 1.) Catch up to your assigned caravan leader (who will be instructed to slow down or even stop to wait for all assigned group members to catch up), or 2.) Continue on your own if you are familiar with the route and unable to meet up with your assigned leader, or 3.) Wait for the last car and follow him to BAM (his job is to lead any stragglers, forming a third group if necessary).
Thank you! Mike (mdelosrey) will lead the first group, Nikki (PenguinPrincess) will lead the second group and will be in the middle of the caravan (thank you!), and I will be acting as rear vanguard to help any stragglers. Please respect the group leaders since they are all doing this out of the goodness of their hearts! Thanks!
How: We will go up 19th Ave. through Golden Gate Park to Park Presidio, through Nimitz Tunnel, and off to the Golden Gate Bridge and 101N to Novato. If we get separated, we can always regroup near Stafford Lake Park.
(3251 20th Ave , San Francisco, California to 3549 Novato Blvd, Novato, CA if anyone needs addresses)
PLEASE! Just a reminder for everybody: we're gonna have a super laid-back cruise up to Novato, 'k? No going over the speed limit, no weaving in and out of traffic, no cutting other cars off, and (this one is most important if we all wanna stay friends) please NO tailgating the guy in front of you! I know we're all adults and that we already know better than to do any of these things, but I have to say this just in case someone goes ape does something dumb and then complains about getting kicked out of the group. Thank you!

So anyway, to continue what some of us were discussing regarding a caravan from San Francisco/Daly City/Upper Peninsula, it seems like many of us feel that Stonestown is a good place to meet up. Which lot, we'll figure out later.
Stonestown should be good since: 1.) it's a straight shot up 19th to Park Presidio and across the GG Bridge, 2.) lots of spaces, 3.) can get breakfast and/or coffee if needed, 4.) it's been used successfully before as a staging area for a Mt. Hammy caravan a few years ago. Also, if the Peninsula and South Bay caravans want to meet up with us on the way up, they have that option as well.
We can discuss further here or even in person at the Saturday Starbucks Gellert meets. Thanks guys!
