No offense homie, but you should have had a rotory tech at a Mazda dealer do a complete check before you got it. Buyin a used Rx is a gamble unless it's certified. IMO of course..

I'll be installing my Spec C roof vent tomorrow if anyone wants to stop by and watch me cut a hole in my roof. I'm going to try to take plenty of pics so I can do a write up on it. Just let me know if you want to come through.

Best way to learn is to get a motor from a FC or something, and tear it apart. I help my friend rebuild a T2 motor a few years back, and help another friend assemble a turbo S5 engine for his FC a few months back, they're quite simple. It's just making friends that have the access to engines you need to do. My friend Pete has his own Rotory shop in SF. Don't know how easy it is to come by Rx8 rotorys, but older 13Bs are all over the place.
You should talk to my buddy Chris, he's almost done building his FC, it's a beast, once he's on the road I'm bringing him out to the meets. He knows a good amount about Rxs
