i would think that the 3" tubing would be necked down to 2.5" at the cat end, or that there would be some sort of flange/adapter, provided that the cat back exhuast was designed to fit the stock cat. you'd have to check with the vendor you're buying it from on that. aside from that, bolting it up should be a pretty simple affair.

New plan:

Cut the entire thing off, throw it away and run straight pipes right off the turbo. . . .hmmmm anyone here running that set up. . . .

better yet, why even run straight pipes? just run a 90 degree bent pipe right off the bottom of the downpipe, so that your exhuast exits on the passenger side of the vehicle right behind the front wheel, Australian V8 supercar style! scare the holy living bejesus out of every pedestrian when you shoot fire at them making right hand turns!

less piping means less restriction in the exhuast, right?

right, but you also need to remember that an engine needs a certain amount of backpressure in order to give you good torque/performance....too little backpressure will make your car feel gutless, as will too much backpressure as well. So an exhaust dump may not be a good idear. It depends on the Application.

Ted, i was kidding -- hence all the smiley faces. the thought of lighting pedestians on fire was too much for me to handle. i'm about the last guy on earth that would seriously suggest something like that.

Last weekend when I was doing my uppipe & turboback install I started the car up with a gutted uppipe and just the Scoobysport downpipe venting into the atmosphere. It was the most beutiful sound I've ever heard. Even got a couple people that were walking by my house when I did it came up to ask me what kind of exhaust it was cause it sounded saweeeeet.

Loud as eff though.

its okay, sarcasm doesn't transmit real well in digital form.

the mental image that prompted my post was the scene in "Drive" (a horrible, horrible movie, i know) where the CART cars race on the street and blow the chick's skirt up. i thought it'd be funny to light someone up like that....

It did, after I did the ecu learning tick. But then I noticed I was getting some boost spiking just cause boost spools so fricking fast now.

So I Reset the ECU again , still had the spike, tried various things and wound up lengthening the actuator arm a little bit to "fix" the spike. The best thing to do is to get Engine management (could go MBC if needed on the cheap but I'm just gunna go ahead and get management) its pretty clear that I'm leaving a ton of HP on the table now by using the stock ecu paired up with the unclogged setup.

Anyhow now that the spike is "fixed" I'll try and do the trick again to get a little bit quicker until I get my new management.

Dude, thanks alot for making my car feel slow..... Seriously though that reset trick really made a difference in your car! So I looked it up on NASIOC and found the Vishnu Reset thread. Just like what you were saying, looks like I'll need a gauge to get it down accurately but I tried it anyway. I figured that 2-3 PSI of boost isn't that much and since I can hear my turbo spooling up, thanks to the air intake resonator deleted, I played it by ear. All I could say was WOW as I grinned like an idiot from ear to ear ......even if I didn't get it right I noticed a world of difference immediately. Hopefully it gets even faster!

"Ted," thanks for going out of your way for the Piggies....can't wait to sport mine!

Later,
Joe
