Don't watch the weather . . . it's evil. Thank goodness we've got that air conditioned driver's lounge eh? Those who remember the good ol' days know what it's like to not have that nice little building. YUCK.

***You turbo guys . . . usually I am jealous of your power, but not when it is hot outside. Actually, this is why we now run 20-minute sessions instead of 25-minutes sessions -- I brought it down to save the turbo cars. A day at the track shouldn't cost someone their engine.

But alas, I guess I will be bringing my racecar after all. A friend of mine talked me into fiddling with the over-stiff sways to see if we can get it to stop understeering so much -- my lap times have evolved to being nearly 10 seconds slower since I finally made it into a Spec car . . . likely it's from the sways that are not part of the prescribed recipe (ssshhh . . . don't tell NASA or SCCA, lol). I thought there wouldn't be a problem using the sways I'd had on the original track day suspension. WRONG. Too much bias from front to rear to have a stiff bar (700 pounds spring weight in front, 375 rear).

That car doesn't have air conditioning, power steering, and all those other fancy street mods, either. It's hot as Hades in there, on a cold day! So I'd be more interested in a driver cooler than an oil cooler at this point. No matter, we will have fun . . . we might lose ten pounds in water weight, but we will have FUN! Oh -- speaking of heat . . . we are supplying PowerAde and water for a reason -- please, USE IT! There's an old expression (that I thought I'd invented but it turns out I was not the first to think of it) in racing that I feel applies just as much to open track events -- "If you're not peeing, you're not drinking enough." Keep that in mind. On hot days, I also like to supplement the regimen with lots of potassium . . . found in bananas and in pill form. I'm going to try really hard to get us a bunch of bananas up there . . . you might not like this fruit, but your body will.

Anyway . . . don't forget about the August 10th event! It's already 1/3 full and we'll be taking registrations on the 18th.

I can't wait to see you all . . . I won't have tons of time as this is a huge event, but I really hope I get a chance to talk to some of you that I've been so fortunate to talk to on the newslist.
