Bay Area Camping trip !

I almost made this thread a few weeks ago, but decided to wait a bit. After kelly mentioned it today, I said I'd go ahead and make a thread

I like to go camping a lot, so let's get something together
for me, I like to go for two nights at least. Normally I go somewhere friday afternoon, and stay till sunday.

A couple suggestions: (preferably places with a river/lake/lots of trees for good hiking)

Samuel P. Taylor State Park, http://www.parks.ca.gov/default.asp?page_id=469
15 miles west of San Rafael on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, displays beautiful fall colors with the change of the Big-leaf maple tree leaves. The park also features hillside trails for hikers, equestrians and bicyclists as well as charming picnic areas. There are also creeks, open grassland, and redwood canyons in the park.
Although most of the saturdays are already reserved.

Big Sur , google maps link

http://www.bigsurcalifornia.org/camping.html

I want to go soon (whenever) but one saturday a month I have search and rescue stuff, so for me it has to be on a weekend not on the SAR schedule

so feel free to toss out dates and places! hopefully we can get a small group to go

well I will throught these three out there first is del valle it is right near livermore off of mines road it has a few large camp sites for group camping but it get realy packed on weekends, hears the web site: http://www.ebparks.org/parks/del_valle

next is a little far a way, lake Don padro it out side of Modesto this place has 3 differedt campgrounds all of witch are realy big the camp sites are all realy big so it wouldn't be a problem having more then 2 tents on them if I remember right there are some group camp sites as well the lake gets some what packed but since it is so big it seams lake there is no one there (http://www.donpedrolake.com/)

last is lake berryessa not shure if you can still camp there but it is out side of napa if I rember right the camp sites are not well covered with trees but the lake is pretty big

i realy don't care where we go I havent camping in so long so just name the time and place

Find a place near some offroading area and I will bring the 4runner and I can take folks out crawling.

Hell find a place near someplace legal to shoot at and I will bring 4-5 of the long guns and a few handguns and we can kill us some paper targets.

Better yet, find a place where we can get slidewayz with the subies and shoot guns legally.

I second that, where's the fun in camping without guns? It's already bad enough they took all the ammo off my boat for a couple months (stupid drydock), now you're saying no guns at all....that's nuts. I miss my 20mm armor piercing rounds...

Camping rally and guns just go together. Will there at least be fishing?

It's a large lake with a dam.
