Back from 2 weeks vacation and catching up on all the posts to this thread while I was gone. Looking forward to the 29th/30th. I'll be running solo and will bring my Alfa Elite rally computer. No Palm Pilot for me!
Re the "primitive" campsite, should I bring the porta potty or is one provided?!

There are 2 standard issue forest service/BLM outhouses.
And there IS "potable" water as well, so its not all that primitive, just no showers or RV hook-ups.

We also just came back from a 2-week road trip. I suspect we may have been near some of the roads we'll be hitting? We'll soon see!

Also, any details for the optional Mon and Tues? Roll-call for those days?
Count me/us as a maybe for now. Got to figure out scheduling.
As an aside, I'd love to try our Usal road sometime on the lost coast. We just bought a personal locator beacon, which we hope never to use, but now feel better about getting off into the hills.

You came close at a few points, but I think we'll have you on all different roads for Saturday anyway- believe it or not

A personal locator beacon is an emergency beacon that signals via satellite that you're in a dire emergency with chance of loss of life/limb that you can't get out of yourself and which requires a rescue. The satellites figure out/pass on your location. Turning it on it will alert the authorities, they'll contact the people you have on your registration (free) to be sure it's not a false alarm and if necessary, send out a search party.
They've had them on boats for a long time, but are now available for land use as well. They're expensive, but we feel safer driving remote gravel roads with exposures by our lonesome and knowing it's there if we need it.

We bought the $550 one. REI has the best price I could find. Note that the $450 lacks onboard GPS, which means it will take 45 minutes for the satellites to determine your location. The 'i' stands for ability to input a coordinate from an external GPS, the 'o' stands for onboard GPS. Took a while to figure that one out. The $650 is basically a few ounces lighter and is waterproof to a deeper depth, otherwise the same as the $550.:

Pete, i may be spacing out or can't find the post, but where and what time are we meeting to drive up there together?
Sadly, we will not be able to stay for the Monday and Tuesday extension. Our work really needs us to be there
