Would headers make a difference?
Hey all, i have a NA 2.2L Legacy with 2.25" cat-back, SuperCat muffler and K&N short-ram, the next mod i am thinking of are headers, i would like to know if they would make a noticeable difference for the amount they cost.

Yep its a 5 speed manual, arent the headers the front half of the exhaust? Because i already have the cat-back, so if i get the headers will that mean i will have the full exhaust? Also do you think that my 2.25" will be sufficient after i add the headers along with the other mods i already have?

Not headers. I used to make that mistake all the time. But anyway, the header is the start of the exhaust section, however, there is a middle cat pipe as well (hence the cat-back exhaust). So it is a third of the full exhaust. As for the cat-back, 2.25" will do just fine unless you plan on going the turbo route, in which case 2.5" is as small as you should go.
I hope this helps,

Oh, and looks great... except for the wheels (not a fan of chrome)

ick?!?! Trust me man the chromes look hot, everyone says so , just a bit stuffed up in the pic, i'll put up a few more pics of the exhaust and interior lata.
No im not really thinking turbo at the moment of course 2.25" would be way too small, the only way i would go turbo is if i was to drop in a new ej20 or sumthin like that, would be too much money and trouble to turbo my car, even though i would eat rexy's it's just too much money, and about the cat-pipe, i'll wait till i get the headers then i might think about hollowing out my cat, cos i dont want the car to be too loud.

Thats fair enough, everyones entitled to their opinion. The only downside to the chromes is the weight, they do weigh a fair bit more than the stock wheels which gives me more rotational mass, and hence slowing my car down, i might put the stock wheels back on one day to see how much of a difference it makes.
The other downside is that i have a heavy foot and i am tempted to dump the clutch at the lights every now and again(no, its not 4WD), and smoke the tyres. And these as you all know sports tyres are not cheap.

I went to an exhaust shop today to ask them whether they do headers/extractors for my Legacy, he told me that they dont do headers for Subaru's(about 90% of exhaust shops told me there are no such thing as headers for Subaru's, but i know there are), and he told that even if i did get them, they would make absolutley no difference at all performance wise because they are just engine pipes. Is this true? Other than the difference in sound will there be any power/torque gains?

If you plan on going turbo soon, you might as well wait on a header because you'll have to get a turbo-header anyway. If you're not going to get a turbo anytime soon, getting a Borla, or any other non-turbo header will give you a little more performance, not anything too noticable though. The most noticable difference will be in the exhaust tone (which sounds damn good
