as far as I know its the EJ22t. Its a 2.2 l and turbo, so EJ22t is what it would be following subarus typical pattern. I know that around here people refer to it as EJ22t

You would have to pop open the hood of a legacy turbo to find out the exact engine code. The last letter is probably the revision code, and is rather inconsequential. To be 100% correct, you could add in the revision code, but for simplicitys sake, people tend to take ej22 and drop the revision code and add a "t" if its a turbo.

The early legacys had only the EJ22 or the EJ22T (much more rare). The best place to get your question answered is over on:

http://bbs.legacycentral.org

All of us first gen. Legacy guys are over there. It's a site dedicated to the BC/BF Legacys. Hope this helps.

Look for a crosshatch "grid" pattern on the engine block, this usually means it's a sand cast block, which the EJ22t was, and the EJ22 was not.

He said in his last post that it's just the engine.
