legacy engine
can someone please give me the engine code for the legacy turbo? i see ej22t, ej22b, and i even saw ej22k somewhere please help me i searched for an hour on this forum and legacycentral and didn't see exactly what i needed thanks very much.

as far as I know its the EJ22t. Its a 2.2 l and turbo, so EJ22t is what it would be following subarus typical pattern. I know that around here people refer to it as EJ22t
You would have to pop open the hood of a legacy turbo to find out the exact engine code. The last letter is probably the revision code, and is rather inconsequential. To be 100% correct, you could add in the revision code, but for simplicitys sake, people tend to take ej22 and drop the revision code and add a "t" if its a turbo.

legacy turbo
here's the problem, i looked at a motor that a guy in my area has, he swears he saw it removed from a legacy turbo that had been rolled the code on the front just said ej22, but the car had a factory turbo set-up and the timing belt cover said turbo 16v, is there a way that i can tell if it's just a regular 2.2block with the turbo heads and set-up? i wrote down all the numbers we could see on it.

The early legacys had only the EJ22 or the EJ22T (much more rare). The best place to get your question answered is over on:
