How do i make a 98 legacy GT fast?
Sup everyone, jus got a 98 legacy GT limited, and love it, but i need more power. Any suggestions? Thinkin bout a $1,500 turbo kit with intercooler, full cat back exhaust, high-flow cat, headers, and a new ecu, and no NOS. Any other things i should know about the legacy, or suggestions on best power to cost ratio would be greatly appreceated, peace.

The motor is essentially the same as the '98 2.5 RS motor, so pretty much anything they've done, you can do.
As for your list, that's more or less what I would have done, minus the turbo kit and ECU. Without the turbo, there really is not much need for a new ECU. There are safe ways to make power w/ a turbo kit (and proper engine management, like a new ECU), but I would rather do a motorswap in terms of reliablity.

you should also look into engine swaps depending on how fast you want to go...also if reliablity is an issue for you...

Is this a good turbo for the stock 2.5L legacy engine?
I was lookin around and found this turbo, it is a lil expensive for me, but it has alot of stuff included...high-flow cat, ecu, hood attachments, intercooler, and fully dyno tested for reliablilty, anyway, check it out, and please tell me if it is a good buy. peace,

your ideas are a good start. you might want to think about ignition coils, coil amps, and even and ignition module. plus i have a 96LS and I have been happy with the results i got from my spark plug wires, cold air intake, and tornado intake fan.

Actually the Phase I DOHC EJ25 is deceptively powerfull.
When I first drove these cars on a test drive, my impression was that it was pretty much "gutless", however after getting used to the car for a while, I found that as long as I managed to keep the engine reving in the 4,800 rpm to redline range I had more than enough power for driving on the street.
These cars are good for an honest 130 MPH.

Tornado intake fan
Jansonzac,
Just wondering if this product actually works?? Wondering if it would
inhance the snorkel intake?? give it a few more kws!!!!!
If it's a big hit, I might considered purchasing one.

another mod we did here down under was put a bellmouth in the airbox,
this helped with a smoother air flow into the airmetre.

bellmouths
Bellmouths we got from car wreckers, mainly off nissans. Older subbies had
them in their airboxs.
Sizes varied as well but the 90 - 100 mm dia are the biggest sizes we came
across.
For the RSK B4 & GTB's we had to cut to fit, earlier models GT's bolted
straight on.
Will get back to you about the subbie models with straight bolt.
One of our member's did research & found good performance for this simply
mod.
Will send his web site later, good info on turboed subs.

I do like that belmouth mod... Thats neat, I'm going to need to do that with my next car. I modified my old airbox with a 3.25" opening by switching that white plastic piece that sits on the inside to the outside and cut the fender. Gave a bit more airflow than the ~2.5" opening that was on the stock 1.8 Airbox.
Where do you get those bellmouths at?
