H6 3.0 available for 2005 Legacy?

H6 3.0 available for 2005 Legacy?
Hi folks,

Does anyone know if the H6 3.0 motor will be available for the US bound 2005 Legacy? I know it's available in the Outbacks. And for some European countries and Australia, I think it's also available in Spec B form with a 6 speed tranny and tighter suspension.

No, I don't think it'll be available (in the first year at least). Just the 2.5 N/A and the 2.5 Turbo.

Well they will still have it in the outback but only with an automatic trany although they have always been able to bolt right up to the manual transmitions so you can make the swap yourself

Subaru claims it can't be done, but I'm sure others have done it. I can't dig up any threads, but I know I've read about it somewhere.

What are you guys blind? the Eddie Bauer edition ONLY comes with the H6...and at 250 horses to boot. My local dealer has one in their lot right now...sheesh.

First, I think you mean the LL Bean edition. Second, thats the Outback, not the Legacy.

yea......the 2005 legacy's only engine is the 2.5 turbo or non turbo...non turbo will have 168 hp and 166 tq ...the turbo gt version will have 250 hp and 250 tq. In the out back there are three set ups : non-turbo 4 cyl. 168 hp and 166tq , non turbo H6 3.0R 250 hp and 219 tq, and turbo 2.5xt (same as legacy) will have 250 hp and 250 tq . the turbo outback is only available in a wagon

I've heard that the 2.5gt has the turbo, but an H6 is available.

yes, there is a turbo available on both the outback (only wagon) and Legacy (wagon and sedan)...the H6 (only in outbacks) has 250 hp and 219 tq. the turbo outback and legacy will have 250 hp and 250 tq.

















I sell them.

same here- i haven't driven the H6 yet- i'd like to see how the sales will compare between the 2 engines.

Unless you're comparing the two Outback engines, I don't see it as much of a direct comparison because you can't get the H6 in the regular Legacy yet. The Outback appeals to very different people than the GT, especially with the changes to the '05 to make it fall under SUV "specs". I think a more reasonable comparison would be between two GT's, one one with the 2.5T and one with the H6. Unfortunately, we won't see that for a little while, if at all.
