Engine question
Depending which engine you are talking about. If you mean most of the naturally aspirated engines, no. The n/a 2.5 liter (ej251) is an open deck motor, the STi motor (ej257) is a semi-closed deck motor. The ej251 is also higher compression, I think 10:1 or 11:1 or somewheres in between. The ej257 is lower comperession, around 8:1 IIRC.
If you mean the new Legacy turbo 2.5l engine, then its very similar, but has some different componets, like the intake manifold, intercooler and turbo. Everything else is the same (supposedly).

Yup.
The engine in your '04 GT is not the same as the STi motor. I had an '02 Legacy L, and let me tell you, I thought about turbo'ing that this as well, but in reality, it was just safer (and possibly cheaper) to do a swap or buy a turbo'd car.

I have a L. But I've talked with Tron about possibly doing an STi swap in a couple years, once the warranty runs out and I've graduated and have an income. I want to do a full make over, suspension, tires (I like my wheels), exhaust and powerplant(obviously)
