Engine fitment

Engine fitment
I posted this on the NASIOC forum as well....
I have the opportunity to buy an STi engine over here in Japan (brand new!) that's for the new WRX (new body style coming out over here). The only problem is, I'm not sure it will fit in my Legacy when I get back to the states. The seller (it's via an auction) said he bought it for his version 2 impreza WRX, but it didn't fit, hence the reason he is selling. I don't want to buy the engine then get all the way back to the US 6 months from now and find out it doesn't. Does anyone have any idea about this? I'll be getting the turbo intercooler wiring harness etc, basically a crate engine, but the only thing I am concerned with is fitment. I appreciate any help anyone can give. Thanks in advance...

My understanding is you need a Legacy "L" (2.2 Liter) cross-member to mount the engine. Thats the easy part.
The hard part is the RHD WRX header & Turbo doesnt mix well with the LHD steering gear of a US market Legacy.
Maybe if you found an older US model "RFD postal" Legacy that has RHD ? Either that or finding a shop to do some custom header tubing.
PS. I am only regurgitating stuff from I read second-hand from memory, others may have more direct first-hand experiances.
Cajual might know a thing or two about these motor swaps.
