Everything I've heard about the Legacy (mostly from CarandDriver)
The Legacy will come in three flavors.
the base 2.5 N/A car will live on, it sells well and still has power to compete with accord, mazda, and nissan 4-cylinder cars.
The 3.0 N/A flat six will be used on all bodies as a comfort/luxury model. It's direct competition would be something like a passat V-6 with 4-motion. Auto only, to the tune of 250HP.
The 2.5 Turbo will be available as a sedan and a wagon. It will make at least 250 HP(some say as high as 280HP). This is the same block as the STi and the XT. The XT motor is not that expensive and the rumors abound that the 210 HP is a VERY low estimate. (Vishnu estimates 230-240 at the crank).
The 4-cylander versions will be available with auto or manual transmissions. (early reports say 5-speeds all around- may be a cost savings as the STi tranny is quite pricey.)
The new car will be slightly larger, and lighter than the old one it replaces. The interior will have higher quality materials and an all around higher class design.
Options include the typical leather and sunroof (no word on the double sunroof-might get nixed for cost/weight savings).
Base cars will get 16" wheels, optional 17". No word on possible 18" for a sport package a la WRX's 17s.
The turbo will slot in as kind of a Legacy WRX. An early hot performer. Tales abound as to an STi version, but it seems clear that whatever we get might very well not be what the rest of the world gets. (There are three possible power plants, a 4-banger twin turbo, a 4-banger twin scroll turbo, or the B11s motor-flat six twin turbo).
There is also the possibility of a hybrid 300HP turbo with a 150 HP electric for a 450HP car with 35 mpg capability. Just my own brainchild, but the technology is there, along with the GM R&D money.

I'm not saying it won't (The EVO does come with it), but it's not likely.
