So I am a total noob when it comes to subaru, but i have a question. I am looking at getting a Legacy and I have been looking around this site and it seems that the only turbo version are older models. I want to get something 97 and above with a little power.

I was wondering if there are any legacy's newer than 97 that are turbo stock. I know that you can mod them to make them turbo, but I want one that is stock.

Also are there any power differences in legacy's i.e. 30th anaversery or something of that nature.

 

The first gen ones were available with a Turbo. Also the current ('05/'06 - 4th Gen) ones are also available with a turbo. Between '95 and '04, though, there were no turbo Legacies in the US.

The 95-99 came with a 2.2L engine and an optional 2.5L engine. From 00-04 the base engine was a 2.5L. The 2.5L engine is more powerful, but the earlier ones (especially the '95-'97) are known for weak headgaskets. There is now a coolant conditioner that any Subaru dealer can add to your car to help prevent the head gasket failure.
