In need of more mpg and acceleration.
Hey all. I got a 03 Legacy L sedan, and was wondering what I could do to it so I can accelerate faster / more hp.....and get a little bit more mpg. I think a cold air intake is one thing I could do for it, but I don't know what kind to get so it will fit my Leggy L.
What do all of you guys/gals have under your hood?
Thank you for all of your assistance

The Cobb CAI will help a lot. Get one now, they're going the way of the Dodo! The one for the 2.5RS fits, just check to see if you have an IAT or not before ordering it, or call and talk to them beforehand to make sure you're getting the right part.
Borla, TWE or OBX headers will also help power and gas mileage, though they'll also make the car louder. High-flow cats are good, and a less restrictive muffler won't hurt speed and efficiency, but it will make it louder.
Lightweight pulley is a good idea, and maybe a grounding kit too.
My car is thoroughly spec'd out here:

Look at the intake resonator box, by the firewall, for this:
If you don't see it, then you don't have an IAT.
This is what my car sounds like with the Borla headers. I don't have any newer footage with the TWE EL headers yet, but it's actually quieter, at least from inside...

It's a pretty sweet sound with the Borlas, while the TWE sounds much more sporty.

Thanks a lot for your help. I think I'll be getting the Borla headers, they sounds pretty sweet. And just to make sure I'll looking correcting. I'm looking for the semi large hole in the middle of the box in the pic? I think mine does have that if I remember correctly, having 2 wires coming out of it.
Again, thank you so much for your help, I'm just starting to get interested in cars and as you can see I have a lot to learn hah.

Yeah, look for that hole. If it's there, get the one with IAT.
The Borlas do sound meatier, but I'm really liking the equal-length sound now. Either way it's a lot better sounding and more punchier than stock.

He has an 03 Legacy L.
No turbo present, no Accessport available, ever.
Any NA Cobb stuff you should buy ASAP or you'll have to look elsewhere. They're dropping support for ALL NA-specific parts very, very soon.

I don't know when they'll be out, but there'll be some of them in the retail channels for a while, and they come up used from time to time on the various message boards in the classifieds sections.
