my 05 GT wagon
I ordered one last night. Black 5-speed. When it gets to the dealer they will install the sti short throw shifter, subwoofer, auto dimming mirror and cargo tray.
They should have the car tomorrow, so I should have it early next week.
Last night was the first time I have seen a black wagon all cleaned up. The only other black (sedan) still had the wrapping on it. I drove it but could not get to see the pearl in the paint. The 05 black has a aqua type pearl, where as my 00 black wagon has more of a purple pearl. The aqua seems to have more sparkle in it.

I saw one up in Torrington, they are really nice for a wagon, the wife likes it better than the sedan, which she loves over the WRX.
I just have to try and convince her to get the sedan, but I drove the wagon as it was 5 spd (all sedans they had were auto), it drives nice !

I'm not a big fan of the body style on the WRX. I likr to 2.5RS better as well as the 22B. This will be my 3rd GT Wagon. I find them more functional then sedans. I ski every weekend, in winter so the room is helpful. I have had hatchbacks since the early 80's.

Cool. I finally got to check out a Legacy GT last night, a white sedan. Very nice. I think I would go with black too, myself. Harder to keep clean but I like it more than the other colors available. They're getting a red one in soon though, maybe that will look nice.

Black may be hard to keep clean, but it looks great when it is clean. I have painted the brakes red on the black car. It looks great. On my red 98' I had yellow calipers and rotors. I think on the 05' black I may go with silver for the brakes. When you see the 05 black you may see why silver would go better.
Did you know you can go on line through Subaru and find out which dealer has which car.

Curious...
but I was wondering why the GT Sedan (non-limited) does not have the engine immobilizer feature with the alarm system?
Is this something that may be easily installed as an aftermarket item, or will insurance companies not accept the fact that it is not installed at the dealer?
Lastly, is this another misprint, in the brochure, as was the one for the dual climate controlled air conditioning system?
Any advice is always appreciated.

The GT does have the immobilizer feature. When I picked up the car the salesperson went over how it works. The engine will only start with one of the keys with the matching chip. I don't know about the alarm. But there is a red light that flashes on the dash at night. I notice it when I walk upto the drivers door in the driveway. I haven't read the whole book yet on all the features. The car has almost 700 miles on it now, I've had it 7 days.
All the GT's have dual climate control. That is a misprint on the borchure.

My GT Ltd. sedan did not have the alarm enabled when delivered by the dealer. There's a procedure detailed in the owner's manual to enable it - some weird combination of ignition LOCK to ON multiple times, then using the door lock switch (I think)...
...anyway, if you don't seem to have an alarm, it just may not have been enabled by the dealer. You can check by leaving a window open, getting out of the car, locking the doors with the remote (which should arm it), and then reaching in and manually unlocking/opening the door.
hope this helps,
kenzo

kenzo, that's how we tested the alarm system on our 1987 Nissan Maxima Wagon. I have been so busy with our Civic's I really haven't had time to play with the new car. We were going to a show tonight but that was cancelled. So it oil change time in the 05' and maybe do some more work on the install of the rebuilt engine in our red Civic. But that's a Honda and this is a Subby site, so I'll stop about that.
I'm planning on taking the 05 GT Wagon to a meet in RI on Sunday, but that is being set up by another Subby site.
gdogg, I'm not to good with getting these computer things and pictures together, I'm almost 50 y/o so please bear with me. My son has had pictures of our 92 Civic Si posted on www.turbod16.com in the Gallery under "rota92" .
Thanks,

Thanks for the replies gentlemen...
here's one more question for ya...
I am trying to decide whether to trade in the WRX for the 2.5GT. I have test driven the vehicle, and like it. People are able to sit comfortably in the back seat ( as noticed by my brother who was sitting in the back seat, behind the dealer in the passenger seat, who happens to be very tall).
Now, here's my question. I went back today, and they appraised the wrx (not giving me a whole lot more than what I owe (but I will take the hit). Here's what I would be getting, given that the financing and everything goes as planned...
2.5 Legacy GT
air filter system; keyless security upgrade; metal pedal pad set; momo shift **** (M/T), rubber mats, short throw shifter, subwoofer/amp, and wheel locks. Cloth interior, dual climate control, etc.
I haggled them to the point where they quoted me $25,980.00. Do you feel that this would be a good deal? I will most likely not be getting dealer financing this time, to keep interest low...so that's the first step.
Just would like some honest opinions. Much appreciated.
Thanks,
i.

It sounds like a good deal to me, that sounds like MSRP for a GT with no additional options... so you're probably getting it for not very much over invoice. Those options are where they really make money so I'd say that is definitely a good deal.
thanks...
I thought it would be a pretty good price, given what I have been reading. I am not a fan of leather, nor sun-roofs (know too many people with leaky ones). The only other feature I would miss is the power seating, but eh, I can live without.
I might try to go a tad bit lower on the price, or ask them to give me about 300 - 400 more for the wrx that I would be trading in.
Let's see what happens...I go back tomorrow...so I hope for the best.

That's a great price, the dealer I purchased mine from is a personal friend, he is a golf partner of my sisters boy friend. I spend a lot of my free time with them. Your getting a great deal.
If your conserned about money, do you really need the STI pedels, and Momo shift ****, they don't make the car any faster only add cost. I didn't get the STI door sills for that reason.
Driving today I was thinking about weather I miss the power seats, I came up with the same answer you did. I can live without them, my last Legacy had a number of sun roof leaks, so yes, I don't miss that.
For Subaru parts at a discount, I did a search for "Subaru discount auto parts" and came up with a couple of sites that have 05 options for less money. I think the shift **** was $64.00, the roof rack was $105.00 etc.
I have a Thule ski box, so I'm waiting to see what Thule does for a mount kit for the 05's. I see Subaru has a box for skis but I'd rather not have to purchase that one, $405.00. Plus the mount system.
Don't worry, your getting a great deal.

As far as the options, I figure get them while I can, otherwise I won't get 'em later.
But thanks, that's a comforting thought...I figured it's a decent price...given that the dealer was really hard to negotiate with.
I am going to check it out today, with my gf, cause she's almost the final word. The bank has the final word...in terms of the numbers that they bring back.
