intakes options

alright, so i've finally got a job that allows me to invest some money into my car. I just bought a lightweight crank pulley and now i'm looking at exhausts and intakes.

I'd prefer to spend as little money on the intake as possible so that i have as much money to spend on a quality exhaust as possible.

so the options i suppose are

1)keep the intake as it is, which is K&N panel filter and de-snokled

2) get a cheap ebay intake

3) Name-brand intake

dyno numbers would be great, i've been looking but unable to find old posts that i remember covered this topic a few years ago when i first got the car.

so, what do you guys think of the intakes you've got, and please how much did you spend on it and where you got it from.

thanks a bunch

I'm not sure of the products availabel for that year. I recommend you do a search in the Legacy forum on nasioc.com. I have a Cobb in my 00 Leg and it is the best.

An intake really won't do much unless you install a better exhaust. I do not yet have an exhaust on my system and the most I get out of it is a lot of sound. It is pretty loud.

Cobb's 98 2.5RS CAI should work, as it shared the MAF system with your car. They are noisy, but not so much when combined with a nice sounding exhaust. Pricey, sure, but it's a nice power boost by my reckoning.

The Cobb is thought to be the most effective of the available products.
