oh nice ...
i drive an 05 legacy ...
it's just base ... but even base is loaded with a lotta stuff ...
well ... when we bought ours ...
we went straight to talk to the manager ...
and insisted on a discount ...
i took 15 minutes ... but we managed to get a 4% discount ...
i'd suggest u go to diff deaelrships and ask around ...
and present urself as a serious buyer ...
as in you want to buy a legacy RIGHT NOW ...
if u seem like ur just "looking around" they won't pay u much attention
good luck

I worked in sales both car and motorcycle for about 3 years and I suggest that when you go you go on the last 2 or 3 selling days of the month because every dealership has sales goals they are trying to meet and they also compete with every other dealership in the same area that sells the same manufactuer. Also if there is bad weather on one of those last days try to go then because less people come in and therefore there are less selling opportunities so they will want to make a deal. Finally check nadaguides.com and go to new car pricing, fill out the info and the pick the model and trim you want it will give you MSRP and invoice. This invoice is a phony invoice and the dealers really do pay less so I would say to start about $1000 below the invoice price of what is listed. If you want parts or accessories have the sales manager talk the parts manager into a discount. I wouldn't settle for less than 10% on parts but it is up to you. Hope this helps out and good luck.

Plunk10 did get a sweet deal and I would have taken that deal for sure but you can always start low cuz then when they come back with a counter offer they already realize how much you think you want to pay. Plunk10 got his at almost exactly the invoice on NADA and if you end up there I would be very happy. Remember if they don't come to a price you feel happy with don't be affraid to get up and leave. There are other dealerships and most likely they will call you and say ok ok we can do that deal. Again good luck

LGT price
ditly is right on. bought my LGT on Oct 28th...went into late in the evening...had supportive material and offered 28K for auto, popular equip group 1, subwoofer and mats (msrp 30,800). Agreed after 10 minutes. During lease process had them lower it to 27,200. Timing is everything.

I got the dealer invoice price from the MSN auto site (including the accessories). Dealer should sell the car for that. I know some people have done better, but not much. Coming in with the dealer invoice print-out and asking them to match it is a pretty easy way to do it.
You bought yours almost a grand BELOW invoice?!
NICE!! Congratulations

Thanks I know I couldn't believe it either. It went from "there's no way we can make this car work for the budget you stated." To....." $3500 off w/ only $500down."
Granted there was a lot of talk in the middle of that and it helped that I put $5000 down on my SRT when I bought it giving me some more room to negotiate on the trade in. Either way got a damn good deal!!! And I'm extremely happy with the purchase.

2005 Legacy 2.5i, 4-speed auto
Included options:
L96 - Popular Equipment Group 1 (Includes security system perimeter alarm and auto-dimming mirror with compass.)
B5A - All Weather Floor Mats
Color: Atlantic Blue Pearl
Got mine for $1,500 under invoice: ~ $19,800 (invoice was about $21,380, although I did not actually see the invoice.) Unfortunately, the $1,500 discount was after taxes and fees. I probably could have haggled a bit more, but according to Edmund's, I did ok.

Theres a used silver/taupe 05 legacy GT LTD for sale here in San Antonio for $24,999. It has 8,261 miles but it is still used. I made an offer of $24000 OTD. My salesman went to the head guy and then the head guy came out and talked to me. I told him that the invoice for a new one was like $26,400. This one had been sitting in his lot for at least a month. He tried to make me sound like I didnt know what I was talking about and blah blah. I didnt feel like arguing and he tried to sell me a WRX for that price. He was a real jerk and asshat. I told him that his WRXs' were too high priced starting at $23k. I am going to wait a week and see if its still there. If I get a WRX it wont be from his dealership.

I paid $26K even for my LGT limited 5spd auto here in corvallis, every option, except moonroof (too many bad things happen with a hole in your roof)...but then again I work for Hewlett Packard and we're partners with Subaru (and GM) so I got $6k off the top and another 1500 bucks in incentives....yah. I bought the car last year in August. I have almost 3800 miles on it, yeah not many miles...I got sick back in november (kidneys failed on me, and lost ability to see for a while) so havent been driving since. Poor thing only gets driven when my friends come over.
The non-limited(5mt) is almost 400 lbs lighter than the full on limited (5eat)...think about weight and tell me which one is more fun.
