engine trouble
Our '92 Subaru Legacy broke down on us 2 days after we got it back from the mechanic. We were having some shifting and RPM issues which we noticed immediately after we picked up the car from the mechanic, and reported it to them immediately. We were on our way back when the car broke down.
Mechanic's take: After we managed to get it towed to the mechanic, their take is that there is an internal engine problem. They took the timing belt off to test if the cranks turn independently, which they do not. They said the have to strip down the engine to determine the issue. With labour, and possibly replacing a new engine its going to cost us about $2000. Considering we just spent $773 on repairs, we are not too enthused about this.
Does anyone have a second opinion of what could have happened to our car? Or should we hold the mechanic responsible?
