Not sure how I missed that in the Jan C & D issue, but this news officially ends my dithering on whether to get a 2003 WRX. I have a Legacy now, and I'm gonna wait for the next Legacy hot rod.

I hear you on waiting. I think the sti is going to be the main attraction for the impreza owners. Lucky ducks won't have to shoehorn anything.

Ok, so with the release of the STI with a 2.5T, here's my take on all the info I've gathered on what the new Legacy will come close to offer. Note that this model, whatever it will be designated, will be the highest model offered with lower models probably sporting a NA 2.5L/3.0L still with the same tanny options .
1. A bigger facelift than expected, with lights similar to what the STI has as the STI most likely took the lights off the Legacy which was in its redesign.(I think the front will look like the STI with a sleeker scoop)
2. A de-tuned 2.5T making 250-280hp & equivalent torque.
3. B4 suspension or an equal setup
4. Two transmissions, either a 6spd manual or a 5spd Autostick
5. 17" Wheels w/ Bridgestone tires (who can't see that coming?
)
6. Bigger brakes(Brembo or STI?)
I'll agree with the comment on a price of ~30K, possibly slightly under that as it shouldn't be more than the STI as seen in Japan pricing.

I thought that I would jump in with my 2 cents worth...
To clarify the B4 stands for Boxer 4 cylinder as they have the B6 also in Japan with the 3.0L in normally aspirated trim. The current design has been out in Japan since 98 and is due for redesign. The USDM Legacys are all produced here and the Indiana plant will be retooling late this year and start producing the 05 Legacys early next year for a early MY release (April/May). Although the Baja will see the Turbo model first in the Legacy line up later in the Summer (July). the Legacy Turbo will probably be called an RSK and in 2.5L Turbo form (cost and power). Subaru will offer STi parts through the dealers for these as well.
I work for SOA but I have no real power...

Considering Jeep already has a vehicle named the Liberty I doubt Subaru would name their car the same, it wouldn't make any sense to do so, but reguardless of what they call it, I want to know when the Turbo Legacy is going to be actually available for sale in the US!

I just thought that I would throw my 2 cents...
The Liberty is the name of the Legacy in the Australian market and I have to agree with Rotorflyr, the name Liberty is used by Jeep here so we definitely will not have it called a Liberty.

The B in B4 means Biturbo and the 4 means AWD. the sources are Car and Driver, the article above the Evo article, and Grand turismo 1,2, and 3 which is a relible source. If you have GT3, when you go to select the B4, it goes along the bottom of the screen. Its the history and specs of the car.

Would subaru come out with two turbo legacy models, the B4(or whatever it is going to be called) and the STI legacy? Would the B4 be by comparision basically like the regular WRX and the STI legacy like the STI WRX.

I believe that the Turbo Legacy will be a lot like the WRX here was a market test and the Turbo Legacy will probably go the same route. If it is a big success then a US STi Legacy could be almost be guaranteed; however, it will be a year or two later. If not then... I know it will do very well so this is not an option.
