Whats the best way to remove letters/badges?

I want to remove the SUBARU letters from the trunk. Whats the best way to get them off without doing any damage? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Thumbs up

I used fishing line (the lighter weight the better, about 5 pounds). you cut the letters off the adhesive with a sawing motion, keeping the fishing line closer to the plastic letters instead of the paint. use goo gone (the citrus version) to take off the remaining adhesive. once its done give your car a nice wash and wax... stand back and enjoy your new trunk!

I know that a hair dryer takes off vinyl lettering very easily. Maybe that would help loosen up the adhesive. Don't hold me to that though.

Yeah, use a hair dryer. It definitely won't hurt the paint, I've debadged every car I've owned and a few of my friends. If you warm them up with the hair dryer the adhesive will come off like butter.

I tried all the above mentioned techniques.
Hair dryer first then fishing line using the sawing motion worked the best.

all letters on the trunk are soft adheasive. i have not come across any rivets. The STi letters are the same as any badge so you would be safe to remove them with the dryer and fishing line method.

And your reason is...? Just saying that without a reason is somewhat pointless.

give it a good wax maybe a few times depending how long the letters have been on your car. i debaged my car 2 days after i bought it so no "subaru" outlines were evident after i washed and waxed it.

yeah, that happened to mine. you could see a faint ghost image of the letters...i washed and waxed it after they came off and it took care of the ghosting...you cant even tell they were on there.
