Washing WR Blue
Washing WR Blue
anybody have any tips for when I wash my car to avoid those little microscopic scratches that can be seen when you look really close? I want to keep the paint looking fresh because a lot more shows with this color. I washed it once and i already see a few popping up. All the stuff I purchased said clearcoat safe and all that junk. This is my first new car so I wanna keep the paint as good as when I got it for as long as I can.
I use a sheepskin wash mitt, with good carwash soap (any kind that doesn't strip away wax is good), and use only Mother's pure carnuba paste wax (the hard stuff in the round metal tin). That's been keeping it scratch and swirl free for a year and a half.
I wash every couple weeks if I can and wax it every 3 or 4 washes, or every couple months if possible. I usually use dish soap to wash it before I wax to take off any old residue.
It's a black car, which is difficult to keep looking new, and I get comments all the time from people wondering how I keep it so swirl free. I don't think I put too much into keeping it nice. I attribute the success to just keeping it relatively clean, and using a good quality wax.
