I have a cd/cassette HU from my 97 legacy GT. I am pretty sure it is the same one that is in the 99, and i am pretty sure it will fit what you want. If you want any pics of it or if you are interested send me an email: Hobbes9595@Hotmail.com
Hope to hear from you!

I have the CD player portion from a 98 legacy GT. If you think you can use it to replace the one your son had 'fed' something too then I'll find it and give you the exact S/N # just to make sure that the connections will work.

I really don't want much for the unit, just a few dollars perhaps for the trouble.

Try eBay if there's nothing here that satisfies you. Personally, I've gone the stock replacement route..and been dissappointed. Nothing compares to aftermarket for sound. If you have a crimper and some butt-connectors ($3 at Crutchfield), the job won't take long at all to do yourself.
