VIS carbon FIber hood fitment??

I was just wondering if anyone had a VIS carbon fiber hood. OEM style. I have been through 2 different hoods. one sucked one broke in the mail and now I am thinking about getting the VIS Both hoods that I had didnt really fit 100%. Everyone says the VIS is the best it gets. I am just wondering if anyone has one and how the like it. does it close down evenly? do you have hood pins. Did anything need adjusting? One fit better then the other, how does it compare to a stock fitting hood? Thanks so much.

Although I don't own a CF hood, from what I've read VIS is NOT as good as it gets. I would have to say that Seibon is better, and of course C-West IS as good as it gets

What about Erebuni, are they any good? Their prices aren't too bad.

fitment is ok... no problems.. closes evenly.. no hoodpins.. just had to get new bolts to install the hoodlatch on it since its they use a smaller size =/ but for GC hoods, the hoodvents look ugly IMO

I don't think erubuni is all that great.. don't know abt seibon and cwest.. but cwings should be same as vis.. i think the top one to get is fiber images

I really hope that the VIS OEM hoods fit better then the C WINGS hoods. CWEST=quality and lots of $$$. C Wings fit like crap. I had one for a day. the shell is no good. hood scoop splitter doesnt line up. the CF isnt wrapped around the edges. its just cut. and it felt heavier. I was really disapointed with it. I hope you meant C WEST.

Seriously, if you're considering VIS, you should really think about Seibon. Price-wise, they're pretty close IIRC, and I've heard that VIS isn't quite on par with Seibon (VIS tends to yellow very easily, and some models have minor fitment issues)

Seibon cost more than VIS

about 700 shipped for seibon
about 550 shipped for VIS

This is for 04 hood though..........

I think they both look the same but i have no idea about turning color thing...... my buddy has one, i dont see any yellow yet(not sure how many miles)... but as for WRX application it might be differnet since our car get very hot (my stock hood turn color already)....

I would get seibon if i have the money. VIS would be my 2nd choice.

But that just me

Marco, $150 is not that much more for a superior product I forgot to mention that some folks have complained about the VIS's weave being less-than-satisfactory at times.
I can see why the man doesn't wanna shell out for the C-West hood though
Oh, and the yellowing is mainly the result of improper care and sun damage, not so much the heat.

c-west and c-wings is not the same... c-wings stuff is made by importfan and uses vis hood from what i can tell then just renames it.. c-west is something else

btw if you take it to a shop and get it clearcoated a couple more times... wouldn't it less likely to fade/yellow?

ok thats what I was afraid of. I had a cwings hood by importfan and it sucked...not only did the fitment blow, but the hood is cut around the edgesd and not wraped, the weave is so so, the scoop is not cut out all that great and its heavier, thats right HEAVIER, then the stock hood. not something I would recomend, I was hoping that the VIS hood was a better product. I still have yet to see one in person, but from what others have told me its a good hood. I am begining to form doubts though. If anyone knows anybody with a high quality hood let me know this way I can talk to them. Maybe eliminate some guess work for all of us. thanks everyone. and BTW I WOULD love C WEST just cant justidy that money for a street car hood with out making bigger money.

NJ Dino, I really gotta plug the Seibon hood again. My friend Seraph (his s/n here) has one on his STi and is a real beauty. Run a search for Seibon carbon fiber hood and you should be able to find a thread where he posted pics of it. Then maybe you'll understand why I'm so adamant about the Seibon You can try PM'ing him too, if you have any questions.
