Did you tap the ground (black) wire? I dunno, maybe it is so obvious that you didn't bother to post about it. I don't know anything about V1 or autodim mirror wiring, so that's my best shot.

if this is a radar detector, you have to sometimes have to see if the tip is + or - if the polarity is reversed it will not work, or burn out, then never work, 2 check your fuse box, maybe something touched that you did not know about, it happens.

I'll echo what others have said - make sure you have a good ground (splice the black wire into one which is nearby). Also - make sure the inline fuse in the direct wire kit is ok (maybe there is no fuse in the holder, or if there is one, maybe it's blown)

If you want it to turn on with the car splice into the yellow wire with a red stripe. And make sure the blue splicer thing (came in the kit) is properly connected to the wire. Also make sure it is properly grounded. If all else fails check the fuse that leads to the main unit through the wire, a replacement fuse is provided and check the fuse box in your car for a yellow 20A fuse and replace it if it is blown. Hope this helps.
