Arrow V-LED taillights conversion Video/pics 05' STi

Haven't posted in a WHILE but figured I'd share...

Welp thanks to Big-E on here I went and took the plunge for the LEDS in the rear taillights... Just wow. Looks amazing and is brighter/faster than stock bulbs.
I will note that the camera I am using can not capture just HOW bright these are. It's awesome! The reverse lights are 5k and are PURE WHITE. Makes the stock bulb that are in the tailights look VERY yellow almost smoker's yellow tabacco yellow..lol

Here are the part numbers used for the bulbs:

EDIT: Looks like V-leds have changed their damn design so that the ones I have are no longer made...lol On top of that they are no $80 a pop!... wow...

Anyways,

I got the 7watt HIGH POWER 20smd LED 7440/7443 bulbs. Got the plug and play led flasher relay from superbrightleds.com so that I didn't have hyper flash...

I think it looks good.
Also did my jdm turn signals in leds along with front turn signals. See all vids..lol

Would have been cool if you replaced all of the bulbs on one side and then shot the video so we could see a side-by-side comparison. And ouch is right on those prices!

What did you do so that the turn signals wouldn't blink faster?

Yea I might put the stock bulbs back in on the left side and do a side shot..
Trush me though they are by far brighter and faster than the stock bulbs. When I had the stock bulbs on the right and put all leds in on the left, my brakes would show faster on the left then the bulbs on the right would finally light up..lol

Just replaced the relay in our cars under the dash. Superbrightleds.com sells a japanese electronic relay for 12 bucks. With the new relay you can have a mix of bulbs/leds all leds or all bulbs and they all blink at the same.

Overall very please with the look.

The relay replaces the one that is in there or is in addition to the stock one? How hard was it to get to? Looks good. I have been considering doing this one. There are kits with all the bulbs for front or rear conversions, with the relay.

Nice. I already have LED license plate lights, now I'm looking to upgrade my turn signals

Very nice... But I would only go for the white backup lights so I see where I'm backing into at night.

The relay completely replaces the stock relay unit.

Took me like 20 mins to remove and find the stock relay under the driver's side dash. After that took 8 seconds to unplug the stock one and replace it with the new one. Then another 10 mins putting the damn thing back together and thanks subaru for using those stupid white push clips...arg.

I didn't want to mess with stupid resistors and splicing into wiring doing it that way.. not only is it messy but the electronic relay is 100x better and you never have to worry about a mix match of leds/bulbs... with the resistors that they sell you have more crap to deal with.

I picked up a set for my backup lights just to see how well they did and whether or not I like them. The answer is yes

Nice, I did V-LED for my turn signals, reverse, license plate and brake light.
Here are the switch backs. They are always white until you put on the turn signal, then it goes amber. But you need an aftermarket flasher unit since turn signal LEDs have a lower resistance, at least on my car.

Looks good. I think all the turn signals require the replacement relay. I especially like the white-amber switching one, but I don't have a spot where it would work.

Thanks! Yeah I wasn't sure if it was for all years or just mine. Yeah I haven't seen those switchbacks on an 04-07 yet. I think I might try and upgrade to those v-stars soon.

For it to work on an 04, one would need cleared out lenses I believe, otherwise it would always be amber anyway as you can see in the OP's last pic in the first post. Not sure about 06-07 Hawkeye.
