U Frame?

well i didnt know which forum topic i should post this in but guess it kinda fits here. I wanted to hear peoples thoughts and opinions about removing the "U frame piece" out from under the car. From my guess it weights about 50 lbs? and could save a lot of weight especially towards the front. So positves could be weight and handling..Davon says his "turn-ins" seem improved from this.. but the negative could be severely damaging the car if in an accident without the piece? and also i dunno if insurance would wanna help cover a severely damaged car without the proper parts on the car such as a chunk of the FRAME.

anyone have any thought and opinions?..

The piece I you’re referring to is a hydro formed sub frame member designed to tie the entire engine compartment together in the event of a front impact. I wouldn't do this for a street car, track car maybe. 50lbs might look like a good weight savings but is it worth the risks involved if you have an accident? If you want save some weight by removing the sub frame I would suggest buying the Do Luck sub frame made of aluminum. Structurally it may not be a strong as the factory part but it would be better than nothing at all.
