Tacky Tachometers
i don't have a tach! and i'll die before i'll put one of those hideous aftermarked things on my dash.
anyone know of a better option?
would it be possible to get a new or used (i don't care as long as it works and looks good) "official" gauge set from subaru or another source? and would it be difficult to install?
thanks for your time.

This one is pretty low key.. I know its not what you're looking for but you might like it anyways hehe.. I'm getting one of these with boost and EGT gauges.

You could just monut a low key LED red shiftlight discreetly. but that wouldn't help as far as monitoring RPM's just your redline....

Theres some very expensive JDM Omori style instruments that look awesome and have digital readouts for speed with boost gauges and stuff but they are way expensive and also hard (read maybe impossible) to convert or afford.... someone may have a link if they remember what i'm talking about.

Look at http://www.spatechnique.com/ They have some options. There are similiar digital "low key" approaches from other vendors, search for vendors who specialize in street rods. Go to a street rod show and you will likely find many "hidden" gauges included in restored dashes

HEY! a shift light is not for showing the redline!
to have a shift light setup properly you must dyno the car and find the peak torque and or hp shift points and set the shift light right at that point, thus not wasting any time outside the powerband by climbing higher in the rpm range than is needed.
just HAD to clear that up

Hey, forgot where I saw it, but the site had a bunch of Omori stuff for sale. they had this H.U.D. kit that would put your mph and your rpm on the wind shield. just a little box with LED's in either green or red. the price was in the $250 range. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
