Sylvania SilverStar experiences?

Hello all,

I'm beginning to get annoyed with the "medium yellow" look of my stock 2002 WRX headlights, and I was wondering if any of you have tried Sylvania's SilverStar lights... These seem so cheap and are featured so prominently at parts stores that they scream "RICER ALERT," but then again, for that price they are a painless experiment. Anyone try them, or reccommend some alternatives?

Hell, they even use a 2002 WRX (race blue, no less) in their web page and print ads.

The Silverstars by Sylvania are whiter than stock but if your looking for more light (Lumens) than look at the Xtravision by Sylvania. They offer more light than any "plasma , ultra , xeon , or what ever marketing ploy this week offers" I have Xtravisions in my main headlights and PIAA ION Crystals in my fogs and it's much improved over stock bulbs. But if you want white lights then Silverstars are your best option. I hope i helped. your should search the forums there are many threads that debate the use of "White" lights.

Another option you can try are Philips Hi-Visibility bulbs. They are cheaper than the silverstars and do not have that ricer blueish tint, they are a yellow bulb. They advertise 30 percent more light, don't know if that's true, but I have been asked if they were stockers, so at least they are noticeably brighter if someone behind you had them. You can get a pair for around 20 bucks including tax.

when i still had my stock head lights, i switched to silver stars and i have to say that there was a noticable improvement.
the light is much whiter than stock with out looing blue. there is no blue color in the light that comes out.

I like my Silverstars but I'd like to see the Xtravisions. Maybe when these burn out I'll give the Xtravisions a shot.

The Neon owners I've talked to like them a lot, and you know it's got to be at least half decent for Neon owners to spring $40 per bulb.

Thanks very much for your suggestions, extremely helpful.

Hmm, now I am thinking of upgrading my fogs, too... Then I'll have to go up to the White Mountains and catch some deer with them

Before you buy Silverstars check these out: http://mpf-search.ebay.com/search/se...h&BasicSearch= I bought them for like $20 with shipping and they work great. Very white light instead of blue. I'm going to switch to yellow for my fogs (running the 7000's right now) for a change, up until recently snappie didn't have the 9005's (hi-beams for 2004's). Those I just ordered today.

SubySal,

How long have you had those bulbs?

I wonder if they won't last as long as silverstars.

I thought about that too, but I've had 'em for about 2 months and even with daytime running lights on the H1's they're holding up well.
