The sti look

What's your opinion on people that put so many sti accessories on their car for the look. For example sti grille w/ sti badge, sti badge on trunk, sti foglamp cover, sti etc... In my opinion, people who add all the looks of an sti without the performance is like someone putting a type R sticker on their integra when its just a gs-r. Even worse, some guy with a civic putting an SI badge or a type R badge on a plain American civic.

the badging ill agree with, but other things such as the grill or headlights have nothing to do with performance, people just like the different look.

Putting sti projetor lamps can't really be looked down upon if you do it right. Besides for looks, if you added the lights with the right mods your vision at night increases drastically therefore improving performance.

i think u are wrong. well, except for the badging. I got STi solid foglight covers. why? so my fogs dont get cracked by rocks. hell, the fogs arent even in right now cause i dont even NEED them. especially after i got HIDS. weight savings.

i also have a v5/6 replica wing. why? cause a naked wrx trunk looks just plain horrible. I feel that wing looks the best on the car. much better than that wack stock wing. does it make it look more like an STi? yes, i admit it. does the car look better? i think so. and so did that carfull of hunnies on the bay bridge that hollared at me.

I agree with you on the functionality of the foglamp covers. I want to get some mesh foglamp covers myself becuase I love snowboarding, and I go up to Tahoe on day trips quite frequently. Did you get the covers because they said sti, or is it the need for the genuine product. When I get my covers, I would prefer the replicas over the ones that had the sti logo on it. Why? I don't know, I would feel like a "ricer" if I had stuff that said sti but still had a stock WRX... but that's just in my opinion.

I don't know...we urethaned a Porche front emblem onto my brother's geo prism and it really feels faster...when we glued the Audi 'Quattro' emblem to his trunk the handling also got a lot better in the snow...(he gets tons of questions about it from people BTW...)

Actually I'm personally not a fan of STi 'badging' but do like some things from the STi like the HIDS (which I can't afford)...the STi shifter trim actually provides a nice accent to the interior of the car, breaking up the plastic, although I just got the shifter trim from ASP (autospeedperformance) that has the 'WRX' logo on it and was able to avoid having those 3 letters on my car and it looks great...and for the '02/'03's the STi front lip doesn't look bad...having said that if you put it on your car that doesn't mean you then need to stick 'STi' emblems all over the place...

supertek: i got the solid sti covers because there were no replicas out on the market at that time. If i got covers now, i'd get plain replicas and have a custom sticker with my chinese name on it.

I haven't really seen anyone with impreza's putting the sti badge's, but I allways notice the bmw drivers with there with their 3 series removing there badge and replacing it with an M3 badges. I like to point them out and ask questions regarding there car. Or to ask them which car it is 318, 325 etc. I like the look on there face when they find out that some kid knows there car isn't a true M. I don't like the badge swapping, I think you should be proud of what you have. Im getting a 2.5rs and you wont see any STI or WRX badges on that baby. Doesn't mean I wont take parts or a Sti replia body kit. But no badges.

STi = Subaru Technica International

I agree, STi is a performance division of Subaru, like TRD to Toyota or AMG to Mercedes. If you're using the parts, you can display the name, just like any other tuning company.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
