STi CF wing vs 04 RS trunk

I just got my hands on the CarbonFiber STi 3d wing, everywhere i looked people tell me it'll line up with my stock holes, but so far they're not! are the 04 2.5Rs trunks diffrently sized from the wrx's or STi's? did anyone have this problem? or does this wing just don't belong on my car?....ps how did you guys cover/fill the hole for you led wire?

It SHOULD line up fine. There are four holes that the stock wing bolted into, and the STi CF wing should fit into them. How is it not lining up? Is it very far off, or just a little bit off? I ask since if you look at the underside of your trunk (i.e. the inside), there are four circular areas where the sheet metal is single layered as opposed to double layered. The four holes for the stock wing are within these circular perimeters. Your STi wing should line up with at least circular perimeters; if they do, you may have to take your trunk to a body shop and have them make new holes within these circular areas. As for the LED wire plug, I'm so sure about that since I was wingless before I got my STi CF wing; however, the stand base covers ought to take care of the hole (though I'm not 100% sure on this part of this installation).

The other alternative I can think of is that you don't have an STi CF Wing? Maybe you have a similar touring wing, in which case it may not necessarily line up properly with the stock holes. Just some conjecture on my part...

Thanks Choku,
Yeah, this is a replica of the STi wing, each frame and holes line up, but once the one is bolted on with the frames, they become too wide. If i had one frame screwed in the other frame over shoots the whole by 2 cms...maybe i'm mising a part? will post pics soon. Any suggestions?

Wow, 2 cm, that's pretty bad... I'd like to see pics if possible, just out of curiousity. I haven't heard of it being that bad before

So when you lay the stands over the stock holes, it fits fine; but when you attach the stands to the wing itself, then the stands are too wide right? Hmmm...

i think i solved the problem, not sure if it's actually gonna work. theoretically it works in my head.

i was gonna un bolt the frams from the wing and attach them first to the trunk. what ever space is missing from the top mounts and the mounts on the wing i can just fill it in with washers...does that make sense? so i'm really dealing with 1 cm on both sides as to 2 cm on one.

i really don't have much time working on this during the week. but i'll try to get some pics up tonight if i decided to take off my stock wing and try to reattach the cf wing

Thanks for the support!

Hmm... 1cm of washers on each side doesn't sound so bad. At least if it looks bad or doesn't work, it's easy to undo

I have a replica STi CF replica too, but I didn't encounter this problem since I had no wing before. I just had the bodyshop measure out the bolt pattern then drill the holes to fit. The bolts do indeed fit in the single layer circles of sheet metal in the trunk where the stock wing would have rested, but I don't know if a stock wing will fit perfectly on my trunk haha. Just for reference, I bought mine from Gruppe-S (all the others I know of from Gruppe-S haven't encountered any fitment issues thus far, even those who had stock wings before...).

Good luck!
