stealth black paint

anyone know the color code for stealth black paint? I saw it in a past modified mag. Almost looks like flat black. Any info would be helpful.

Actually it is called "radar transparent" paint. Normally a flat black however offered in OD green, and a few other shades. This is not normal paint, it has zero metallic properties to it unlike most paint that has reflective properties. Last time I picked some up for a friend restoring a F4 Phantom, it was about $500 a quart.

wow, how much quarts would I need to do a bugeye sedan? Thanks for the help guys. Also, this is only going to be my third car paintjob. Is spraying this type of paint a difficult task?

there would be no point, if you want that "look" just use a flat black paint like the "rodders" do on their cars.

First off you would need about a gallon and a half of the stuff so you would be talking something like $1500 in paint and reducer alone. Second why would you need it? It wont make you "stelth" as radar will rebound off the metal under the paint (airplanes use fiberglass and plastic in the nosecone/radar cone). Now, laser speed units would have a hard time picking you up, but that is going to be the case if you just use a flat black too.

which is why its odd that he's asking about stealth paint specifically in the first paint. There really only seem to be two reasons for it a) looks and b) über stealthness

I was asking just for the color code if you read my first post. To those with helpful info, thanks.

Do it Jiro. I already seen a flat black wrx here in hawaii with black rims and I gotta admit it does give off that uber "damn thats sick" thought. If i can find the pic, i'll post it up.

late,
walter
