Spoiler vibrates with sound system
I have a 2003 Subaru Legacy Sedan SE, my question is about my OEM spoiler.
I recently had a sound system put in it where I have two tens in the trunk. Since this was put in, my spoiler vibrates pretty badly. It appears to be coming from the brake light LED. Is there anyway to stop this from vibrating? If you have any ideas let me know, Thanks, Chris

have you sound damped the trunk at all? if not go to www.crutchfield.com they have a ton of good stuff.

yes, I have Dynamat in my trunk. It is located right where my spolier bolts onto my trunk lid, so it should be fine. I was thinking of spraying some polyurethane foam into the spoiler but am not sure how to get the LED brake light off to do this. If you have any other ideas I would really appreciate it because I don't really want to spray the foam. Thanks, Chris
hav u checked that the brakelight is tight. there might b just enough space in there to let it vibrate only under heavy vibration. check that and if its tight maybe u could try getting some rubber material like sink washer material and making a gasket that will match yur light and put it behind the light fixture and screw it back down.

I have a 98 2.5rs with 1000 watts of bass in my trunk. the thing used to vibrate the sh*t out of my trunk. my trunk and spoiler sounded like a bike with a card in the spokes rattling around whever the bass hit. well i had enough of that......so i took off the wing and the brake light assembly and checked it out. after much tinkering and decission making I got some sticky tape foam role( u know that high density black foam they use for sound enclosures)It comes on a little role......well i securely taped the crap out of the brake light and screwed it back in snug....no rattles.....then i taped up the bottom of the wing and put it back on the car....I then proceeded to turn up my radio.....BOOMP BOOOMP da da da da well....the wing and brake light are as tight as can be.....but the trunk itsself flexes in and out every time.....o well.....at least it sounds half better =) I thinkin i gota remound the trunk latch or something....possibly dynomat the black rubber where the trunk meats the car......hhmm dono....anyone got any similar solutions?
well i duno a whole lot about audio stuff but maybe the trunks just weren't made to handle that kind of power and vibration. hav u tried turning it down a bit. perhaps its just a matter of deciding which u want more, a trunk that doesn't move or more bass. goodluck guys with yur systems.
