I've had this hood for about a year now, and it has these nasty discolorations under the clear. (gelcoat issues?) Any ideas how to fix? This is ugly, I've heard nothing but good things about Seibon but seriously 1 year and this? I'm thinking I should have saved some $$ and bought a ViS or ebay hood for this quality.

On the positive, the fitment is awesome

*sigh*

damn, have you contacted seibon or the place you bought it from yet? Maybe they can provide some support. Suzanne has had hers on her STi for almost 1.5 years, and no discoloration like that, just a little yellowness

yah....
I don't mind the yellowness. I've talked to Seibon. They have a 6 month warranty and have basically told me tuff #$%& and deal with it.

Evidentially Seibon hoods cannot hold up the heat generated from our motors (per a Seibon customer rep "Mikey") and so the clear coat bakes on to the resin. *shrug* I dont think so. My personal opinion is that thier materials aren't as top notch as everyone believes. I've had ebay hoods look better for longer than this.

I sent them the pictures, asked for some type of help. I was told too bad.

So others out there. Beware when purchasing Seibon Carbon Fiber. This might be just me, but I bet others out there have had similar results.

And their customer service is a joke.

*sigh* anyone know of a DECENT carbon fiber hood manufacturer and had a long ownership of such? Is the japanese dry stuff worth the 1500$ ?

Seibon is only better because of the fitment or what not. But it's still going to fade regardless.

I know one other carbon line that has a lighter hood weight, but may have a few manufacture blemishes but does not fade.
